Kingston 5, Sequim 1

The Buccaneers (3-1-1 overall) topped the Wolves Tuesday thanks to a hat trick from junior Rachel Taft. Taft, normally a defender, was playing her first game as a forward.

“We’re hoping to create more of a threat with her,” Kingston Head Coach Craig Smith said. “We’re making changes and looking positive.”

The Vikings scored three goals in the first 12 minutes of Tuesday’s game to blow past Port Angeles. Siara Byers led the Vikings with two goals and three assists, followed by Ashley Cole, who had two goals and one assist.

North Kitsap beat Port Angeles High Tuesday in three straight sets, with scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-15.

Sophomore Sarah Baugh led the Vikings with 17 kills, 16 assists and eight digs. Teammate Claire Torstenbo followed, with 10 kills and eight digs. Brittany Everett was 17-for-18 serving, with three aces.

Kingston High fell to Sequim in three sets Tuesday, with scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-20.

Sisters Andrea and Alexia Johnson led the Buccaneers on defense, with 10 digs apiece.
