Sports briefs: West Sound basketball all-star games approaching

Sports Beyond will host the 8th Annual West Sound Senior All-Star Basketball Event March 24 at the Bremer Student Center at Olympic College. There will be a boys game as well as a girls game. The teams will play two 20-minute periods. There also will be a three-point shooting contest, “hot-shot” shooting competition and a dunk exhibition. The players who will participate were nominated by their coaches and then selected by the West Sound All-Star Committee. Proceeds will be used to finance select basketball teams to play in local and national tournaments through Sports Beyond and Total Package Basketball programs. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children and students under 17. Door prizes include gift certificates to Massage Therapy, Los Cabos and Noah’s Ark.For additional information, visit www.sportsbeyond.net.

Select soccer

The North Kitsap Chaos, a girls select soccer team comprised of players 16 years old and below, completed the regular season with a 2-2-5 record.

Five players from Central Kitsap played on the team, which competed in the Washington Youth Soccer League. The Chaos won the 2009 Commisioner’s Cup and will compete in the 2010 Challenge Cup.

The first game of the Challenge Cup is at noon March 20 at North Kitsap Stadium, Poulsbo.
