CK summer baseball
The Central Kitsap summer baseball team is looking for players to fill out its roster for the 2008 summer season. To qualify a player must be younger than age 18 before Aug. 1 and must be planning on attending Central Kitsap High School. The Central Kitsap summer baseball team plays with the Junior American Legion league and is in the Region 3 division. The team plays about 30 games, including three tournaments. The purpose of the summer team is to prepare players for CK’s high school junior varsity and varsity teams. The Central Kitsap summer team will host tryouts at noon on Sunday, April 27 at the CKHS baseball field. CKBR needs coaches, sponsors
The Central Kitsap Babe Ruth baseball league still needs coaches and sponsors for the upcoming 2008 senior season. Coaches are needed in the senior division (ages 16-18). Coaching requires three evenings per week from now through the beginning of June. Sponsors are needed for its senior division teams. Ozzie Saxon Wrestling Camp
Former state and national wrestling champion and Olympic graduate Ozzie Saxon will host the 2008 Technique/Competition Camp from June 30 to July 3 at OHS.
The camp is for students in grades 7-12 and a T-shirt is included.
Session one runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and session two goes from noon to 2:30 p.m. Instruction will focus on takedown techniques, pinning combinations, escapes, riding techniques and more. Lunch will not be served so campers are encouraged to bring a lunch. Only the morning session will take place on the last day. A cookout will follow the morning session on the last day from noon to 2 p.m.
Saxon is now an assistant coach at Ohio University. Fellow OU assistant Kyle Hansen, a former Iowa state champion, also will coach at the camp.
Cost of the camp is $150 and the camp is limited to the first 60 applicants. Application deadline is June 8.
