Student-Athlete of the Year

The Bremerton Patriot is taking nominations for the 2008-09 Student-Athlete of the Year.

Candidates should not only be strong on the field, but in the classroom and around the community as well.

The Bremerton Patriot’s 2007-08 Student-Athlete of the Year, Jacki Hill, posted a 3.94 GPA while participating in three sports — basketball, soccer and track and field. She now attends Washington State University.

Total Package basketball clinic

Total Package Hoops will host an intense shooting and ball handling clinic for boys and girls basketball players from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 29 at the Bremerton High School gym.

The clinic is open to fourth- through ninth-grade players.

The goal of the camp is to provide the serious athlete looking to advance their basketball skills to the next level with proper coaching and fundamental skills.

KSS hoops camp

Klahowya Secondary School will host a summer basketball camp June 23-26 for both boys and girls.

The girls sessions are from 2 to 4 p.m. and the boys are from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at KSS. The camp is for players in fifth, sixth and seventh grade. Cost is $35 and covers four days of basketball. The camp will focus on all-around basketball skills — dribbling, passing, defense and shooting
