Military rugby
The All-Navy rugby team is looking for applications for the Armed Forces Sports Council team. The Kitsap military rugby community has supported the All-Navy team for many years — the 2000 All-Navy team had 12 players who, at one time, played for the Bangor Renegades.
Applications, which are available online at http://www.mwr.navy.mil/mwrprgms/fitness/sportsApplication.doc, are due Oct. 1. For additional information, contact coach Don Sheehan at dsheehan@alionscience.com, donald.sheehan@navy.mil or Pat Wallace at patrick.wallace1@navy.mil.
The eighth annual Army-Navy rugby game is Nov. 21 and Kitsap will play host. The Kitsap Rugby Football Union is actively seeking military players (Navy, Marine or Coast Guard — active duty or reservist) who would like to be on the Navy team for this event. KRFU is developing a Navy team specifically for this event and practices from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the upper softball fields on Naval Base Kitsap.
