Andrews earns Olympic League AD award

Olympic High School Athletic Director Nate Andrews earned high praise earlier this week, but he’s not taking all the credit.

“I never go at this alone,” he said.

Andrews was voted by his peers as Olympic League Outstanding Athletic Director of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year. Andrews, a first time winner of the award, is currently in his third year at Olympic. He said it’s rewarding to know Olympic’s hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed. Andrews stresses that the award is the result of a team effort from the athletic programs at Olympic.

“The great coaches here at Olympic make me look good every day,” he said. “We have a very dedicated group of coaches, and I’m very fortunate to have them.”

The award was voted on by the athletic directors in the Olympic League. Andrews is eligible to win additional athletic director awards for the West Central District, and possibly state if he wins again.

Andrews, a 1999 Washington State University graduate and former Cougars baseball player, said he was humbled by the award. Andrews coaches the Olympic varsity baseball team.

“It’s nice to be recognized for the work we do,” he said. “The big thing is I work alongside several other athletic directors in our league and the area, who are all deserving of this award.

“I’m just one part of the process, and there are many parts.”
