Sports Roundup: Olympic offense leads comeback over Spanaway Lake

North Kitsap, Central Kitsap, Klahowya baseball teams were also victorious on Monday

EAST BREMERTON — Olympic batted around in the fifth and sixth innings against Spanaway Lake, overcoming a 4-1 deficit to take home a 12-6 victory on opening day.

Cale Dower broke a 4-4 tie with a bases-clearing double to center field in the fifth, which brought home three Trojans. Dylan Heino and Logan O’Neil each drove home a pair of runs in the sixth. The Trojans pounded out 13 hits after the bats got off to a slow start against Spanaway Lake starter Dawsen Ka’Aiwela.

Dower ended up with four RBI in the game and Heino knocked in three; O’Neil and Brayden Buchanan each drove in two.

Justin Finnegan earned the win in relief, pitching 1 1/3 innings, allowing just one run and striking out two.

Logan Chmielewski scored the go-ahead run in the seventh on a wild pitch as the Vikings (1-0) downed Bainbridge 5-3 out on the Island.

Chmielewski and Jordin Robbins both walked to open the final frame and were bunted over to second and third by Zach Meek. After Chmielewski came home on a wild pitch, Robbins scored on an error by pitcher Liam Kobs.

Robbins and Klos each drove in a pair of runs for North Kitsap and Isaac Richardson collected two hits in the victory.

Central Kitsap 11, Wilson 3

Senior shortstop Fred Buckson hit two home runs, including a grand slam, as part of a 4-for-4, 7 RBI day as the Cougars breezed past Wilson, 11-3.

Central Kitsap is now 2-0 on the season after blitzing Bonney Lake, 18-6, on March 9.
