Three Kitsap BlueJackets starting pitchers — Trey Watt, Brad Propst and Kyle Hamman — were selected to the 2009 All-West Coast League Second Team, as voted on by WCL coaches.
Hamman, a soon-to-be senior at Southern Utah University, posted a team-best 1.87 ERA, finishing 4-3 with 33 strikeouts and 17 walks in 62 2/3 innings pitched.
Watt, a senior-to-be at Pacific Lutheran University, finished 6-4 to lead the Jackets in wins. He was second on the team in innings pitched (67), ERA (2.01) and strikeouts (46).
Propst, meanwhile, who will be a senior at Oklahoma State University, finished with a 2.35 ERA and 55 strikeouts to just seven walks. He was 3-4.
Bucky Aona (Southern Utah), Zach Jacob (Dayton), Chris Escobar (San Francisco) and Kelly Constantini (San Francisco) received honorable mention. No Jackets were named to the First Team.
The Jackets announced Wednesday attendance figures were up 20 percent from 2008 thanks to the “low cost of tickets, high entertainment value and the fact that Kitsap families are able to enjoy high-quality baseball in their own backyard without having to travel out of the area to watch it.”
The Jackets finished the regular season 20-28, 18 games behind the first-place Corvallis Knights (36-10).
