POULSBO — The top varsity team in the Olympic League kept it that way with a 6-3 win over the Bremerton Knights April 28.
The North Kitsap Vikings out-played the Knights in fifth and sixth innings to secure their 10th conference win.
North Kitsap’s Kole Milyard was the game’s winning pitcher, striking out five, walking eight, and committing one error.
North Kitsap’s Nash Gowin earned two RBIs on two hits. He earned one run.
The teams tied in the second inning 1-1. The Knights then led in the top of the fourth 3-0.
When it came time to bay in the bottom of the fifth, the Vikings scored three runs, which included Gowin’s two RBIs, and an RBI by Milyard.
The Vikings extended their lead with two more runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The Knights were unable to come up with a run in three innings.
The win keeps the Vikings (10-3, 11-5) one game ahead of the Klahowya Eagles (9-5, 10-6).
The Eagles are on a seven-game win streak, which began April 15 against the North Mason Bulldogs. The Eagles ended the Vikes’ win streak within the conference, April 25, with a 5-4 victory. They went on to defeat the Kingston Buccaneers 7-2 April 28.
The Vikings play three more conference games before the regular season wraps up. They travel to Port Angeles April 30, then host the Olympic Trojans May 2. The Eagles and Vikings play again May 5 in Silverdale.
