POULSBO — The North Kitsap Vikings defeated the Orting Cardinals 44-21 Nov. 4 to advance to the first round of the 2A State Football Tournament.
The Vikings (6-0, 10-0) now face Archibishop Thomas Murphy (6-0, 10-0) in the first round Nov. 11 or 12. The quarterfinals take place the next weekend, the semi-finals Nov. 26, and the championship on Dec. 3.
Boys and Girls Cross Country: Bremerton, Olympic, Kingston and North Kitsap competed on Nov. 5 in the 2A WIAA State Cross Country Championships in Pasco. Among other Kitsap cross country teams, Klahowya competed that day in the 1A WIAA State Cross Country Championships in Pasco. Results were not immediately available.
Girls Soccer: North Kitsap lost to Fife 1-0 Nov. 5 to finish second in the West Central District 2A Championship. North Kitsap hosts Lynden at 6:15 p.m. Nov. 8 in the first round of the 2016 WIAA 2A State Girls Soccer Tournament.
Girls Swim and Dive: Bremerton, Kingston, Klahowya, North Kitsap and Olympic compete beginning at 4 p.m. Nov. 4 and 11 a.m. Nov. 5 in the 1A/2A WCD III Swim and Dive Championships, at Hazen Swimming Pool in Renton. Results were not immediately available.
Volleyball: North Kitsap defeated Orting 3-0 on Nov. 5 to finish third in West Central District 2A Volleyball Tournament at Franklin Pierce High School. North Kitsap next faces Woodland at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 in the first round of the 2016 WIAA 2A State Volleyball Tournament at St. Martins University.
Kingston’s season ended in the district tournament with a 3-2 loss to Franklin Pierce on Nov. 4 and a 3-1 loss to Washington the next day.
