POULSBO — The North Kitsap Vikings defeated their crosstown rivals and secured a trip to the district playoffs in one evening Oct. 17.
The Vikings defeated the Kingston Buccaneers 30-7 in the Pillage and Plunder Bowl at North Kitsap Stadium. The win guarantees the Vikings (4-0, 7-0) an extended season; securing one of four playoff berths from the Olympic League.
The Vikings scored 14 in the first half and 16 in the second.
North Kitsap’s Kyle North, Sean Crowell, Alex Allbee and TJ Jensen scored touchdowns for the Vikings.
Allbee, the team’s quarterback, completed eight of his 14 passes. Allbee totaled 157 yards.
North’s TJ Jensen rushed for 103 of the team’s 205 yards.
Kole Milyard had the most receiving yards, with three catches for 85 yards.
Defensively, North Kitsap’s Bob Evans, TJ Jensen, Chris Robison and Corey Jackson led. Evans and Robison topped the charts. Evans had eight primary tackles with five assists and two sacks. Robison had five sacks with seven tackles and five assists. Leif Klinger had one interception and Crowell had two.
Kingston junior Adam Wright scored the Bucs’ only touchdown with a reception from quarterback Jack Colleto.
However, the Bucs (1-4, 1-6) held the Vikings to their lowest score since Sept. 19 when they won 26-7 over Black Hills. The Bucs had 30 primary tackles, with 18 assists. Joshua Iles had the team’s one sack.
The win kept the Vikings tied with Olympic Trojans (4-0, 5-2).
With two games left, the Vikings have a shot at finishing the regular season undefeated and taking the league title outright. However, after playing the 2-2 Port Angeles Roughriders, the Vikings face the Trojans in their final regular-season game, Oct. 31.
The Trojans face the 2-2 Sequim Wolves Oct. 24. If the Trojans defeat the Wolves, the title will come down to the final game against the Vikings.
