POULSBO — A 3-0 win over the second-place Sequim Wolves Oct. 21 put the North Kitsap Vikings two games above the competition.
The Vikings (9-0, 11-0) won 26-24, 25-15, 25-19.
The Wolves (8-2, 10-2) remain in second in the league, one game ahead of Olympic.
Team leaders for the Vikings included Bri Duchemin, who had 14 kills and 21 digs; Briar Perez, 10 kills, five blocks and 15/15 serving; Molly Lemmon, 23 digs, 18/18 serving; Mareena Clotfelter, 23 assists, 19/19 serving; Megan Cragg, six kills; and Mekdes Crowley, 13 digs.
“The girls stepped up big in this match against a very good Sequim team,” head coach Tim French wrote to the Herald.
“North only missed two serves all match (78/80) and battled the Wolves for each and every point. We are still working to find the best possible combination of players and positions. The girls are focused on doing their best no matter where they are asked to play. I’m very proud of them.”
Bucs win first match this season
BREMERTON — The Kingston Buccaneers’ varsity volleyball team won its first match this season Oct. 16, defeating the Bremerton Knights 3-1 in Bremerton.
The Bucs (1-8, 1-9) were unable to come up with a win since the beginning of the season, Sept. 16.
The loss bumps the Knights (5-5, 5-6) down to fourth in the league standings.
The Bucs traveled to Port Angeles to play the 1-9 Roughriders Oct. 23.
