SUQUAMISH – The Suquamish Championship Wrestling federation is at it again. This weekend they kick off a two-day double feature with their “Too Legit To Quit” show at the Suquamish Tribal Gym at 7 p.m. today.
Federation owner Ron “The Iron Buddha” Sutherland said the show features between eight and 10 women wrestlers competing for the first ladies championship crown in the Pacific Northwest.
“It’s a title that can be defended in any of the leagues,” he said, estimating there are about 15 other leagues between Washington and Oregon.
The Suquamish Championship Wrestling federation recently became the “hub” of women’s wrestling, said Sutherland.
“Usually there are only two women wrestling in an event,” he said.
The show costs $7 for adults and $4 for kids. The Suquamish Tribal Gym is located at 15838 Sandy Hook Road.
On Sunday the SCW hosts a free show for kids and adults, the “Children’s Freedom Festival.”
During the previous night’s competitions kids get to vote on which wrestling contenders they want to see matched in Sunday’s event.
“The kids are going to be the promoters for Sunday’s show,” Sutherland said. “We are empowering kids and giving fans the chance to see what they want to see.”
The festival is set to be complete with free comics and prizes from Bremerton’s The Comics’ Keep and pizza from Suquamish’s Bella Luna Pizzeria.
