Zac Smit chosen as Rogues’ player of the week | Sidelines

The 2011 graduate of NKHS earned the award for the second time

North Kitsap High School graduate and former Vikings shortstop Zac Smit claimed the Player of the Week for the Medford Rogues baseball team, during the week of April 13-19.

Smit, who attends college and plays ball for Grand View University, is playing summer baseball with the Rogues. It is Smit’s second time in earning the award. The Rogues are gearing up for postseason play.

Smit played five double-headers to end an exhausting week with an even 5-5 record.  Smit was at bat 32 times which resulted in 13 hits, 11 runs, and six RBI’s for a batting average of .406 on the week.  Defensively, Smit posted 29 putouts along with 17 assists.

After a slow start, Smit has built his average to .272 with one home run and 18 RBI.

Smit is a 2011 graduate of North Kitsap.
