A Kitsap County Jail inmate was pronounced dead at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton Feb. 27 after being found by sheriff’s corrections officers unconscious and non-responsive in his single-person cell.
He was born on Aug. 17, 1927 and grew up on the Port Gamble S’Klallam Reservation. He worked for Pope and Talbot Lumber Mill. He enjoyed playing baseball and later watching his son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. In his later years, he loved spending time at Point Julia with his wife.

Poulsbo Mayor Becky Erickson and Caldart Heights residents were meeting to talk about an experimental parking plan for the neighborhood when talk turned toward vehicle speed. The North Kitsap School Board and Superintendent Patty Page share responsibility for recent failures to communicate with parents about situations in which their children’s well-being has been at risk. The failures to communicate are inexcusable.
